John Knox House

A very wet day in Edinburgh. I managed to get this shot of John Knox House in a break in the rain.

This is one of the oldest buildings on Edinburgh's "Royal Mile". It is reputed to be the final resting place of the Protestant reformer John Knox.

The house was built around 1450 - 1500 and was partly rebuilt in 1600 by the Mossman family. The Mossmans were goldsmiths to Mary Queen of Scots. As the Mossman family were Catholic there are some who say John Knox would not have stayed here. There is no definitive proof either way. Regardless it is a remarkable building for it's age.
