Cloisters, Iona Abbey

Iona is a small Hebridean island, accessible through the larger island of Mull.

It is said that St Columba settled here in 563, with 12 followers for company, and played an important role in converting the Picts of what is now Scotland to christianity from his base on the small island.

This photograph is of the shadows of Iona Abbey's cloisters, against the ancient old stone floor.
