They're Back!

When Space Invaders was launched in Japan in 1978 nobody had seen anything like it. Apparently entire arcades were given over to the game and at one point the Japanese Government had to mint extra 100-yen coins because the Space Invader's cash boxes were removing so many from circulation.

In 1979 it reached Britain and a nation of teenagers, including me, were hooked.

Well guess what? It's back. Thirty years later. Not sure what kids today will make of it but I'm going to find out.

To further illustrate how far things have come over the last three decades, the global sales of video games were worth $41.9 billion last year. For comparison, music industry sales were worth $11.5 billion.

And it all started with Space Invaders!
