heron taking pause in Amazon creek in west Eugene

In town we have an extensive bike path (Fern Ridge Trail) and part of it follows along a creek called the Amazon. While taking our daily walk I spotted this magnificent bird standing in the partially froze-over creek, which is itself a tributary leading to wetlands a mile or so west of this spot.
