The old granary

A Tudor granary built on saddle-stones, or steddles, at Manor Farm, Eastergate.

Still housing the parish Nativity scene which is set up inside the granary each Christmas for worshippers to view as they cross the farmyard to St Georges' Church.

It was lovely to start the New Year on a Sunday to celebrate the naming of Jesus and see regular members of the congregation to wish them a Happy New Year.

I have to say though, that the highlight of the service was the vicar's confession that the bread wasn't properly risen; most likely due to the fact that his wife had struggled with the breadmaker at around 2am while hosting a party for his teenage children and 40 or so of their friends!
