Better late than never

yes, these are pink fir apple salad potates. yes, they could've (should've) been harvested around august. yes, it's now 2 january and they have been in the ground (well, in a big bag) for nine months. but hey, i got them dug up now, and they look fine, so i think that'll do! they've kept beautifully, probably thanks to a cool summer and autumn and mild winter - i had worried they might start sprouting again but it seems the conditions were just right.

this is them and their colleen colleagues going in back in april, and here is a progress report from may. i dug the colleen in october and still have some left - they've kept immaculately in a paper bag in the kitchen (it helps that my kitchen is chilly), i'm hoping these do as well. i could've been enjoying them in the summer, but i actually think i'll enjoy them even more in the winter as they are the only taste of home-grown i'll see for several months!
