Someone was a bit careless in painting a window-frame. I went along to the 'The Ba'' and took some photos...but none were much good. I was shooting into the light and there was a lot of steam coming off the players, so that didn't help. The Ba' is a local traditional ball game played every Christmas and New Year between two teams in the county capital of Kirkwall; the Uppies and the Doonies. A couple of hundred men in each side engage in a melee to move the ball a spot in the opposition's area. It's very hard to get a picture because the mass seems to be very static and the ball is pretty invisible. I watched for thirty minutes or so and the mass moved about 30m, and the ball was never seen.
