British Comet Tank, Duxford

The best British Tank of the Second World War, was the Comet, which could talk on the late war German tanks like the Panther on near equal terms.

It was intended originally as an upgrade of the Cromwell, but turned into a largely new design, armed with the effective 17 pdr gun. The 11th Armoured Division was equipped with Comets in December 1944.

This Comet is now the Gate Guardian at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford in Cambridgeshire. In the background you can see a replica Hurricane from 1940 in the markings of a Polish RAF squadron. See the blips from Warsaw from just before Christmas.
