Flooded apples

A tree by one of the lakes in the reserve dropped a lot of apples late in the autumn. The lake is now full to overflowing, and they are becoming submerged. Most of them still look surprisingly fresh.

A very, very windy night here with little sleep possible. With three windy nights out of four and little sleep on New Year's Eve with the trip to Manchester airport early New Year's morning, the lack of sleep is starting to tell. A gust of 93 mph is reported from High Bradfield near Sheffield, where I was with Dad just last week.

Good to be with my brother from America, another trip to Bawtry this evening to catch up more with the rest of the family. They will come over to Bolsover on Saturday, and then it is the funeral service for our great friend on Monday in north Lancashire.
