The Things You Learn

Today I learned that (in Germany) no-one needs a pee and the moon is NOT made out of Green Cheese.

The first of these two things is just a language thing - one doesn't say "Ich brauche pinkeln" - it just doesn't happen. For a little moment I was impressed by the bladder control of 83 odd million people only have that idle daydream dashed on the cold logic of syntax. Schade as we say here.

The second, well, that's just the way it is. There is the legend of the Man In The Moon but not the cheese story (at least not here in Hessen). Wallace & Gromit's A Grand Day Out is still a very popular film here though (as are all the Aardman films). As I said, the things you learn.

Today was really all about the storm - the remains of Hurricane Bawbag II or whatever it was. It was due to arrive (with thunder and lightning) at just before midday and then to pour lots of water down on us for several hours with accompanying howling gales. It did exactly that - including one almighty clap of thunder that woke Moot up from the settee and had him halfway up the stairs in under a second. Poor mite.

Today's Blip was from the roof terrace in the 5 minutes of relatively clear sky we had today. I like the moon in blue sky.
