The first twitch of 2012 - Great grey shrike

I can hear you all now, "we knew he wouldn't give up chasing Birds", "he saw a Great grey shrike last year, I thought he wasn't going to twitch this year", "I wonder how much petrol he's burned to see this", "so much for reducing his carbon footprint".

Well rest easy, the New Year's resolutions are still intact. En-route to Asda, Stevenage we detoured half a mile out our way to Norton Green to see this bird. Last year it took us three fairly lengthy trips from Perth, to find our Great grey shrike, so it seemed well worth the half mile detour for this tick.
