Blue

It's been such a lovely day. The blue sky has been a stranger for a few weeks and it was so uplifting to hear the birds singing in the sunlight this morning. I stood in the sun at the Royal Festival Hall at lunchtime watching people walk by and boats sail along the Thames.

In the evening, I went to Si's birthday drinks at a wonderful establishment called Drink Shop Do. It's unlike any place I've ever been in. The front area is a shop full of lovely hand-made crafts. Just behind the shop is a bar area that also serves many delicious teas. There's also a club downstairs. All around the walls and tables are second-hand goods that you can buy. Near where I was standing sat a stuffed kingfisher in a birdcage, which I could have bought if I had £175 to spare. Most people drank alcohol until Fred appeared with a china cup and saucer, and a teapot. He'd managed to convince Matthew to carry the milk jug. They made quite an impact as they arrived in our crowded area of beer drinkers.

One chap in particular was quite offended by Fred's sudden tea-drinking. All in good humour, of course. This chap's wife then followed suit and returned with a pot of Assam. I also went forth and returned with a rooibos blend. We all held out our pinkies and supped happily.

It was a great night with lots of fab folk to catch up with or meet for the first time.

Happy weekend!
