sunflower seeds

Today I went to Tate Modern. In one room there is an enormous pile of sunflower seeds.' Yeah whatever' say I muttering along with at least two other voices mumbling similarly. Not so. Each of the several MILLION seeds is made from porcelein and hand painted. They are incredibly simple and beautiful, an installation piece by Ai WeiWei and as I understand it representational of aspects of China where sunflower seeds are eaten as a snack.
Mao Tse Tung was the sun and flowers must follow the sun, so much is 'made in china' and while' looking the same' on the surface every one is an individual. Haunting and very thought provoking.
