Robin at large

There is a hole in Aberdeen

Yes Aberdeen has a large hole in it. This was a working quarry from 1740 until 1971. Since then it has been out of use and is now a very large puddle. Apparently it is 140 metres deep.

The former contents of the quarry can be seen in the form of many of the buildings in Aberdeen, and the granite has also been exported to London, and possibly elsewhere. A good view of the quarry from the air can be seen on Google.

Now it makes for a good view for these apartment buildings, and provides them with a reasonable assurance nothing will be built to spoil the view.

I suppose there is the possibility that somebody could develop a use, but there are no signs of that at present. It was put on the market a year or so ago, and offers over £30,000 were being requested.

A drench today, cloudy and overcast.
