A slice of Lesley's life

The lows and the lows of the beautiful game

By Sunday morning Carl had just about recovered from the bitter blow of losing his first match in charge of the Diamonds. . So not sure he was ready for defeat at table football. Perhaps he should go back to the armchair management he is so good at?

Once I could tear the kids away, we headed out onto the ice for a spot of ice-skating which was a huge hit and way more successful than I could possibly have hoped. Carl who is self-described as "like bambi on ice" when wearing ice-skates kindly offered to mind the bags, take pictures and hang out in the bar (no doubt practicing his table football skills). We had headed out on the boat to Canary Wharf partly because we really like the boat trip, partly because the rink there is always pretty quiet at the weekends and partly because it gave us the opportunity to meet up with lovely friends who very kindly provided us with a lovely lunch, fine refreshments and a very chilled out afternoon.

What with that and the "skiing" yesterday it feels like we've had a mini-break to the Alps.
