Ramla Beach Party

No internet again has meant I have been going Blipping crazy! (I am addicted 100%)

Ramla Beach Restaurant opened yesterday and in true Luxor style, an opening means a party!

A small group gathered, as we sipped our cold karkade, overlooking the Old Winter Place nestled into the East Bank corniche.
An idyllic setting, on the shores of the the everlasting Nile, the Theban Hills providing the breathtaking backdrop to the West and the shoreline as far as the eye could see to the North and South. The sun became lower.

Word gets around very quickly here, it is a small place and everyone knows everyone. Elders arrived in arabeya's clutching their sticks, shashes wrapped around heads providing warmth from the cool river air. Dancing horses in the back of pick up trucks, leapt from their leashes at the sight of other adorned stallions. Musicians began to play, sending out the signal that the party had begun.

It is so exhilarating to watch the horses as they thunder past you, sticks being dragged behind the rider, kicking up even more dust and sand. The riders stopped their Dancing Horses in front of the musicians, to perform. Arched necks, mane's flying and people clapping to the beats of the drum.

As the sun set, the horses dispersed and the men with their sticks began their traditional ritual.
