Beyblades

Have you ever seen Beyblades? It is a toy system. You have a bowl called stadium. And several tops of slightly different shapes and colours. There is a little tool you use to start spinning the tops and place them in the stadium. The idea is to place two tops in the stadium and watch them fight each other. The top which first stops to spin is the looser. It can even be kicked out of the stadium. Two players can compete. There is some skill involved, in the way you place the top in the stadium. If you know your opponent, you can choose a certain shape of the top to support your strategy, given that you have stocked up with several different tops.

Here on Saltspring it seems that almost nobody have heard of Beyblades. But out there they seem to be popular. I wanted something interesting to entertain my 11 year grandson on hist visits. I got the advice to look at Beyblades from my Swedish granddaughter, who is about the same age. But they were not easy to find here on Saltspring. However, it showed that I could order them at our little department store, although the assortment was very limited. And here they are. You cannot see in this still photo that they are spinning, but they are. I hope the boy will find them interesting.
