colour burst, rose bay

the light this evening was beautiful and i'd taken my slr in my handbag today to work, so i couldn't resist snapping a few shots after i jumped off the ferry home. i did in fact take some shots on the ferry too, but the spray was wild today and they're rather spotty.

i love these colourful kayaks and shot them at all sorts of angles, but i liked the way the people on the beach were framed by the colour here. it also gives an impression of the bay - with North Sydney to the far left in the distance, just over the harbour bridge from the CBD, and then some of the yachts of Rose Bay in the immediate foreground. it was such a low tide this evening that the 'Rose Bay Hire' boat which is crammed with SUP boards, was all aground. you can also get a small impression of the enormous number of yachts on the harbour waters on a friday evening - all of those white dots in the distance are sails.

we had the perfect end to the week and perfect start to the weekend this evening with a sunset surf after work. M and i were both (amazingly!) home by 7pm and we headed straight along to the beach. the sunset was absolutely spectacular - luminous pinks and reds took over the sky and reflected magnificently in the water. we stayed out in the surf until it was almost too dark to judge the oncoming waves...and as our chances of being shark bait increased with every surfer who left the water for the day!

happy weekend when it arrives with you all x
