Looking West to the Pentlands

The other day, I was asked by somebody about buying a camera to take landscape and sunset photos. Which would I recommend?

So, accessing my knowledge of cameras and photography I said "Dunno"

Then I said, "If you can afford a DSLR, do, If you can't try ebay for a second hand one, but modern compacts are good and you can buy a last years model Nikon Coolpix for under a hundred. I was wrong, they're under fifty!
