liberation

liberation

is a 12 hour sleep
is a long breakfast with honey
is watching someone else work
is walking around sculpture
is waiting for the winter light to dip just so
is talking about words for 3 hours
is laughing at old and new friends bellow flop onto the world's oldest bowling alley then comfort themselves by drinking pints from Scotland's oldest pub, the sheep's heid inn.
is walking home in the moonlight around arthur's seat and screaming when persons of an age who should know better jump out of the bushes.

The liberation track is from Martyn Bennett's last album, Grit. I love and marvel at the exuberance of it, made all the more poignant as he was in decline by this stage and unable to compose using his substantial talents as a classical and folk musician on pipe, fiddle, piano, guitar etc..

No-one else has quite come close to combining 90's house, classical and Scottish folk music. If you want to see him play (and some of the folk here seen belly-flopping be a bit more deft on stage) - click here.

At the Scottish modern art gallery, one the neon signs tells me in yellow, "there are no miracles here" and the other in blue "everything is going to be alright"
