Round up

This picture demonstrates a growing trend I have observed which is the use of herbicides along paths to negate the need to trim the edges. It ruins the look of the grass and exposes the public to yet more chemicals. It seems totally unnecessary and the practice seems to be catching on in many local councils. Has anybody out there noticed this phenomenon?
