Leaving the Concert--Paris

This afternoon we attended a concert in Paris's 15th arrondissement, with two works: Mendelsohn's Violin Concerto and Beethoven's 3rd Symphony (the Eroica). Like many concerts in Paris at churches and other venues, entrance was free (although a collection was taken, and patrons were clearly generous).

For those interested, the church was St. Jean-Baptiste de Grenelle; the violinist was David Grimal, with the Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Paris. I was struck by the Nativity figures hung in front (the one on the right under the arch with a staff may be John the Baptist). It's definitely worth viewing large--don't miss the pigeons on the roof (they're as common in Paris as in most cities).
