Drilling for oil? In New Malden?

This was really bizarre, this huge drill appeared in the car park of New Malden station overnight yesterday - and was left with its bit part sunk in the concrete. No idea what they were up to, but by the time I got home, the drill and all the rest of the gear and fencing was gone, and all the evidence left was a small hole covered by a fresh new plate.
