Hole in the Ground

No sign of Bernard Cribbins, but then this was quite late - after working hours.

This hole is the reason why Inverurie's busy High Street is closed this week. Monday morning - the first day of operations - led to some major surprises on the part of drivers quite unprepared for (or subconsciously unwilling to accept the reality of) the closure. It also led to at least one spectacular (and ultimately successful) attempt by the driver of a car transporter to effect a 3+ point turn in the rear car park of the Banks of Ury Hotel.

Some of you might recognise the building just left of centre in the background: it's the combined Evangelical Church and Masonic Lodge I featured in my blips of 13th October and 30th November 2010. (The hole in the road is to allow services to be connected to the new houses currently being constructed on the site adjacent to the Church/Lodge.)
