RNLI Training

As the tide rises, the lifeboat is towed back up the slipway on Birnbeck Island following an evening's training.

The island is home to Weston RNLI - access to the island is along a quarter of a mile stretch of the dilapidated Birnbeck Pier. In spite of the difficult access the lifeboat was recently launched within ten minutes of the volunteer lifeboat crew being paged - impressive stuff.
