The Blocks

In about 1940 (before my time) there was a real and genuine threat of invasion by the German forces and various defenses were implemented to protect London.

These huge blocks of concrete were placed on the Thames towpath to stop tanks and personnel carriers from using the towpath as a route to London. The metal loop in the foreground is designed to flip the vehicle onto its back if it manages to get over the concrete blocks.

Mosh the dog (Jack Russell) is there to show the size of the traps.

Again the winter colours, ivy and damp attempt to breakdown the concrete without success and you do get a feeling of defiance and indestructibility.
