Trees converge

Despite it being literally just down the road, I went for the first time to the National Memorial Arboretum today. It is really quite big, and is very peaceful, and incredibly interesting. This was taken in the Navy zone, and these trees that you see are part of a copse of trees where one was planted for every Merchant Navy vessel that was sunk in the Second World War. Many of them have individual tags, the blue things that you might be able to see further down. The trees are all planted in strict rows, and in the middle there is a larger memorial. It was a very worthwhile visit and I am looking forward to going back in the summer when everything will be in bloom, it will be like a different place.

You can see another shot I got today on Flickr for my SPNC entry.
