Everything seemed rather drab in the woods today except for these tree trunks with their dusting of bright orange lichen.

Gave my talk on last year's odonata (dragonflies and damselflies) survey on the common. It was a very poor year with only 8 species recorded compared with 18 in 2010, almsot certainly due to the weather conditions.

Last week's cake success looks like beginner's luck. A hideous mix up this week. I used plain rather than self-raising flour with the inevitable rather flat result. Lesson learnt.
