snow in Africa

We had snow overnight. Snow. In Africa.

We were at 14,000 ft, of course.

Another first. First time I've camped out in snow. That was the night my "wet ones" froze.

I'd borrowed a sleeping bag from Dagmar for the trip - good down to -30c according to the label. It worked. It had to.

Camp 3 was in one of the small craters, with a cute wee lake in it. And a spectacular view of Mawenzi (per the photo).

It's the lesser peak of the Kilimanjaro volcano. At 5,149 m or about 16,500 ft, it's still amazing. Quite different in character to the main peak. It's for mountaineers only, and not touroids like me.
