Teal

All the ducks are in their finest breeding plumage right now, as this is when they pair up ready for breeding in the spring. Most wildfowl species in the UK right now, such as these teal, are only here for the winter - they will move to their breeding grounds further north as a pair.

The drake (male) teal is quite a smart little bird, and the duck (female) has a more subtle charm.
