mid-air duck gazing...

...over the territory

i usually opt for geese - today it's a duck... they were out in abundance and had no fear of me - flying by at close range - doing the hover thing... suspended just above the ground for moments at a time prior to landing. i like to think they were doing that special for me... because i was chatting at them... snapping their pictures... and giving them their 15 minutes of fame. in return they were posing so i could get the best shots - so what happened is i ended up with a myraid of pics to chose from. isn't that the case? some days you have nothing - others you have too many to narrow it down to only one...

sometimes ducks can get a bum rap: they quack - they don't always appear quite as majestic as geese coming in for a landing... they waddle... and the poop? well - let's not go there... however, have you heard their wings? they have the most incredible sounding wings... if you listen closely - you'll hear them sing to you - both when taking off and upon landing... it is the coolest thing ever - an awesome treat of nature and it made for...
