Squiffy by the Sea

Titanic

Excuse the pun, but its Full Steam Ahead with rehearsals for Titanic the Musical which we are putting on at the Minack theatre on the 100th anniversary of the ship sinking in April.

After the Christmas break and various holidays its all getting rather serious now. There is about one and a half hours of music to learn, much of it in 2, 3, 4 or occasionally 8 part Harmony. I also have about 30 lines of dialogue to learn which doesn't sound too bad but its all nautical speak, latitudes and longitudes etc !.

As they say though "it will all be all-right on the night" and from what I have heard about the set and costumes its going to be quite a spectacle.

Tonight we spent most of our time on "What a remarkable age this is" which is a great fun song in the spirit of G&S

We're sailing aboard the greatest ship
To ever sail the seas
The hull and the keel imperviously
Stronger by degrees

Magnificent crystal chandeliers
Parquet in all the floors

The ceiling is Jacobean
A decor the world adores

Remarkable ship (Oh what a ship!)
Remarkable keel (Oh what a keel!)
Remarkable steel (Oh what a ship!)

If it could be put in a phrase... it's
"What a remarkable age this is!"
