In the Cloud

We awoke to a fogged-in world, and on the drive to school as the sun slowly burned off the fog, I said to my six-year-old daughter, "Isn't the fog pretty?"

"We're driving through a cloud," she replied.

"Oh, yes. I suppose you could see it that way," I said, admiring what I thought was her sense of wonder and imagination.

"No. Really, Mom, this is a cloud. The snow is both melting and evaporating, and that is what made the cloud."

Gee. What could I say to that?
