Cabbbbbbbage.

A good day of interesting lectures, followed by a few nice meetings and sober clubbing. One of the courses that I'm taking this semester is Science and Society - Nature and environment, and looks at how science is perceived and interpreted in the public eye - and why this happens.

Had a great seminar on the subject of "what is science?" which is so far from the physical geographist's point of reference that it's fascinating. We don't even consider science as anything other than a fact, when the sociologists call is a purely social construct. There's a really great lecture to listen to here if you have 40 minutes in your day to spare.

After my final lecture (microclimate, interesting but a repeat of last year's meteorology course) I headed along to a great wee pub/den called 'Under the Stairs' where a beer will set you back £4 but it's a nice atmosphere. Met up with Anders who was over from Uppsala in Sweden, and got excited about the prospect of going to visit at some point. Then straight from the pub to Libby's 21st birthday party, where we headed to George Street to go clubbing. I've never seen so many 'lads' and people in suits in a club!! I wasn't drinking which made things cheaper, and didn't detract to much from the fun. No hangover tomorrow either!

Roast pork with wine and apple soaked red cabbage for dinner.
