of a different trade. Today our year 8 speechmaking activity turned from writing and delivery, to actually delivering their speeches. Shorter and more direct than the State of the Union, it was a simpler shoot, with a single mic (AKG D224 E for those who care) through this mixer/amp into the side of my Nikon.

The camera is limited to 20 minutes per clip - not a problem when the boys' brief was 3 minutes tops. The 18 second one had the merit of brevity, but hard to tell when the beginning, middle and end had their boundaries.

I rather enjoyed doing a sound setup again - used to be the dayjob. And having an external mic input was one of the things that made me buy the camera.

Next time I might rig an FX mic for the applause.
