Combrit church

This is slightly more rounded than most churches in Brittany but this is not my region of le pays Léon but le pays Bigouden (Cornouille) near Benodet, south of Quimper.

The art of bell ringing is an ancient tradition. each year two men aged between 18 and 65 are elected to become bell-ringers. They have to squat uncomfortably in the round towers on either side of the bells and are equipped with ear plugs and powerful magnets.. They then have to oscillate the magnets to and fro to set the bells in motion but as they can't see each other the synchronisation is difficult to achieve. The magnets are heavy and you can tell a bell-ringer at the end of his annual stint but the powerful biceps and triceps that have developed.
