Angel and Greyhound meadow

This bridge leads from a carpark to the part of the floodplain of -well, which river? the Thames, Isis, Ock, Cherwell - why can't they stick with one name? The river that flows under Magdalen bridge, scene of many a punting party. I don't know anything about the angel or the greyhound, although they are also associated with a pub.
We were on our way to the BBC wildlife photography exhibition in Oxford, with Ithaca and Miss Ithaca.

We were met by the polite protesters drawing attention to the poor credentials of the competion sponsors, something I had not known about.

The exhibition was lovely, and I was struck by the variety of entries. Some were incredible representations of animals, such as the winning picture of a polar bear; others had a much more painterly feel, such as the hare in Finnish snow. Came away realising that not only do I have insufficient patience for wildlife photography there's a great deal more to it than sitting with your camera waiting for an interesting beast to happen along.
