Louise - Changing Natures

Now gies' a hand...

Was privileged to attend the Roberts Burns Humanitarian Award 2012 tonight at the Burns Museum in Alloway.

An amazing, humbling and inspiring event - established to recognise humanitariasm across the world. The nominees tonight included an amazing activist group for the profoundly deaf; a nurse who essentially ran an emergency hospital as it was being shelled and shot at in Tripoli during the recent civil war and a midwife saving the lives of thousands of women and babies in the war-torn Congo. The power of human beings to have such compassion - in the face of such monstrosity - amazes me and gives me hope.

I also managed to get another item ticked off the bucket list: to hear the divine Eddi Reader sing "Wild Mountainside" live. The fact that it was in the birthplace of Burns just made it even more magical.
