Spitfire Cupboard

At the end of the Second World War, CSA Industries of Warwick, England had a stockpile of metal originally destined for Spitfires and Lancaster Bombers. They decided to make a range modular fitted kitchen units.

They were evidently still in business in 1957 when our old house was built, because this was the kitchen we had.

The We Love Creative blog has information about the 'English Rose' range. Ours was the 'Anemone'.

I think we replaced the units sometime in the '80s and they became rusty and neglected. Unlike chipboard units, however, they can be rubbed down and renewed. So we now have one of these cupboards in our kitchen. 55 years old and still going.
