Berlin

Day one in Berlin has gone smoothly although was a bit exhausting. We were up at quarter to five so we could be at the college for six in plenty of time for the bus at half six. All the students showed up in plenty of time with no last minute stresses.

We arrived at the airport in plenty of time for our half nine flight and arrived in Berlin a wee bit before one after a bit of a bumpy landing.

We arrived at our hotel about half an hour before check in but that gave us time to sort out paperwork and room sharing.

After giving the students some time to settle in we all went for a walk round the Mitte and Kreuzberg districts. The whole city is new to me and, despite the bitter cold, it was good to explore.

We eventually stopped for some Mexican food. Well, some of us, a few of the students headed to the pub. Then we left them to enjoy their evening and headed back to a pub nearer the hotel.

Roz, Anna, Alex and I had a couple there then had a wander round near the hotel and stumbled on Kunsthaus Tachelles, which was pretty cool.

Tiredness and a litre or so of German beer means it will be an early night tonight. The Jewish museum and the Hamburger Bahnhof are on the agenda for tomorrow.
