The G3 and how to improve its Jpegs

A just criticism of Panasonic mu-43 cameras is their straight from camera jpegs are poorer than DSLRs or Olympus Pen cameras. The exhortation to shoot RAW and sit for hours at your computer producing masterpieces is often made, and is a tempting one.

One user at the Micro-four-thirds forum (www.mu-43.com) can't be bothered with this; he uses a customised WB cloudy setting and adjusts the "Standard" Photo Style by (among other details) setting NR to -2 and sharpness to +2 to give him out-of-camera jpegs that need minimal processing.

Here is a composite of two 100% crops of the same scene, the shot on the left with his settings and on the right on default.
