In sure and certain hope...

... of the resurrection to eternal life.

Granny's funeral was today, with around two hundred people gathered in the Cathedral Church in which she was baptised, married, and buried, and in which she was to be found every Sunday until she was no longer able due to ill health.

We sang her favourite hymn (O Jesus I have promised), we heard the Scriptures, we prayed and gave thanks for her life and faith.

Afterwards she was buried in the adjoining graveyard, with my granda Francis, who died almost twenty-four years ago.

We grieve and mourn her passing, but do not sorrow as if we had no hope. Granny Jean lived and died trusting in the Lord Jesus and we know that we will meet again in the resurrection to new life where there will be no more sorrow or sickness or suffering.

The end of an era, my last grandparent has died, and visiting in Dromore will never be the same again without calling in to see granny.
