The end of an era

This is Robbie's in Rangiora, it has just been closed by CERA and is going to be demolished thanks to over 10000 earthquakes. Now generally i wouldn't make to much of a song and dance about a Robbie's closing but this one is a bit special. The original building on this site was the Junction Hotel built in 1868 then replaced by this building in 1880 built for $5000. Looking at the old photos it was a pretty impressive building.

Ironically The facade and balcony was destroyed by a Christmas day earthquake in 1922.
