Grassmoor Country Park - Walk Day 2

[Archive blip]. The series of walks involved covering all the 300+ km gridsquares in the upper Rother basin. This included the urban as well as the rural areas, and was a mix of roads, lanes and paths on routes of my own devising - an interesting part of the project.

The picture is on the Five Pits Trail entering Grassmoor Country Park from the south (looking back on another slight detour due to footpath route uncertainties). The bridge carries the lane between Grassmoor and Temple Normanton. Typical of so many former mines, the land at Grassmoor has been split into a country park alongside trading and industrial states. The parks and reserves are starting to mature and many are developing distinctive character and are interesting places to visit.

Walk Day 2 - 29 km (a closed path caused retracing of steps and a detour, so turned out the longest of all). SE Chesterfield.... Birdholme, Hasland, Calow Brook, Grassmoor (north), Sutton Spring Woods, Temple Normanton, Grassmoor (south), Wingerworth, Borthorpe, Birdholme.
