tryin' to get to heaven

bleak and midwinter-ish

We're in the middle of an exceptionally cold spell.

Yesterday we spent in the Somerset levels on a cold, crisp, sunny blue-sky day with the main purpose being to see the huge starling roost as the birds in their thousands suddenly and spectacularly drop into the reed beds. However, before the starlings arrived, we found a bittern sunning itself for ages in the late afternoon sun and it finally obliged us by slowly and surprisingly gracefully flying off. That is a first for me and contributed to a really lovely day out.

Today is the start of the 6-nations rugby. France, England, Wales and Ireland all in with a good chance of winning. Lets hope for exciting rugby.
