GUN SALUTE 60 - soldiers relax after the salute.
Gunfire echoed around York today to mark the 60th anniversary of The Queen's accession to the throne with a Royal Salute.

Picture shows the last of three 105 mm light guns, fired on the stroke of noon by soldiers from 35 Battery, 39 Regiment Royal Artillery.

The Salute consisted of the firing of 21 rounds from three guns at 15-second intervals. York is one of 12 saluting stations including London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff and the only one in the North of England.
