Credulity

Is it because science has been such a powerful epistomology that people feel the need to
seek out some other form of knowledge that is hidden (i.e. not empirically testable or falsifiable) and occult? That there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. (Hamlet Act 1, scene 5)

What is a psychic reading? What if anything is being read? What can a set of cards tell me about my life?

I was once shocked to learn that a colleague of mine who was contemplating a change of job, was consulting an astrologer.

No doubt people believe or want to believe in the message the bearded one will convey. But it is self-evident that what one believes to be true is not necessarily objectively so. But I guess that if a person believes, even if for just a short time, that parting with a sum of money will help sort out the clutter of their life then it's money well spent. But a fool and his money are soon parted, as the saying goes.
