Home

I have often walked by this houseboat early in the dark morning (it was still dark when I took this photo but a blue filter lit up the sky) and always see this pristine interior, not a vestige of a lived in presence. Except for this man who is always sitting at his counter reading what looks to be an opened newspaper. He always seem so very alone, and so visible in that aloneness.

Later this morning I walked by a group of homeless men who were getting up and organized for their day from their camp under the freeway. The contrast of homes is sometimes so stark in the city.
