The Charing Cross

Well, not THE Charing Cross, the original (a memorial to Eleanor, the wife of King Edward I) was on the site of the roundabout about 100 yards away, where the statue of Charles I now looks down Whitehall. Some of the history of it is written up on the walls of the tube station below.

So anyway, I thought getting right up close for a shot of this Victorian version in front of the station in the dusk was unusual. It took just long enough to take my mind off the cold until the bus came.

Mundane and usual is over now, tomorrow is exciting again.
