Zip-up swimming pool

There is a lack of functioning swimming pools in Christchurch after the shakes.

One lucky eastern suburbs school has a 10 metre zip-up swimming pool, erected and filled up with water in just five days! The pool has a security fence under the awning. Each end of the awning unzips.

It is a Christchurch City Council initiative, and comes complete with heating and filtration systems, a life guard and swimming instructors, courtesy of the Council. It will be shared with other schools in the cluster, and some community groups, who can make bookings to use it.

Not exactly a pool for doing laps!! But the children don't need to worry about the weather on Monday - they are excited about the first day in their fancy new "indoor" pool!!
